RCIA - Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

Curious about what it means to follow Jesus?  Do you want to know more about what the Catholic Church believes and why?

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is for people wanting to know more about Jesus and the Catholic Church.  Persons who are not baptized, baptized in another Christian tradition, or baptized Catholic and have never celebrated First Communion from age 7 through adult are welcome.  Youth do participate in their own age appropriate session at the same time as adults.  To sign up or for more information contact the parish office, 921-7527.

                Additional Information:

·         If I want to join the Catholic Church, how long does it take to become a member?  You become a member as soon as you make a commitment to join the community at weekly Sunday services (Mass).  If you are not baptized, baptisms take place normally at Easter.  If you are already baptized, the celebration of full communion into the faith will be determined by your own readiness.  Learn more here http://www.usccb.org/beliefs-and-teachings/who-we-teach/rite-of-christian-initiation-of-adults/

·         There seems to be a lot to learn, will I have to study at home?  There is not required reading between sessions.  You will be assisted in identifying a sponsor who will accompany you throughout your RCIA experience who can help you find answers to your questions and introduce you to members of the Holy Family Church community.

·         How do you determine readiness?  Readiness is determined by a desire to learn more about Jesus and the Catholic faith, a desire to get to know other members of the Church community and desire to pray alone and with the community at Mass.

Do you have a child age 7 and in second grade or older that would like to celebrate First Communion?  Contact the parish office, 921-7527.
