The Music Ministry at Holy Family is one of the most vibrant ministries that includes choirs, cantors, instrumentalists and non-musical opportunities. Our goal is to enrich worship, prayer and reflection with a variety of liturgical music styles. We welcome all to share their talents with the faith community at Holy Family. Below are a few details about the opportunities we offer.
Our Adult Parish Choir consists of hobbyists and professional musicians. The Choir is a friendly group of singers whose goal is to enrich the liturgy through praising God with their voices. All those in 8th grade and older are welcome to join. The choir meets Thursday evenings for rehearsals and sings one Sunday Mass each week at Holy Family (9:00 am Mass or 11:00 am Bilingual Mass). They provide music for all major liturgical functions, parish celebrations, and present two concerts each year. The choir is constantly growing and they are always accepting new members.
The Children’s Choir is a choir of students of Holy Family School who are in grades 5-8. These students are invited to sing at the Friday school liturgies. The Children’s Choir is led by school music teacher, Regina Mason and the Parish Musician. They rehearse 8:00 a.m.-8:25 a.m., then sing the 8:30 a.m. Friday Mass.
Non-Musical opportunities do exist in a music ministry program to support the music ministry. In the music ministry, we have varied needs; from the people who make the music, to the people who help produce it. The Music Ministry is always happy to accept an extra hand in folding or handing out programs for concerts, or wheeling a piano into position for a concert. Depending on how you look at it, the best part is, you don’t have to make a noise! If you feel you can help us in ways other than music making, we certainly will always appreciate the help!
Please contact the Parish office if you are interested in any of these opportunities.
